A carefully curated civil ceremony shaped through bespoke arrangements and thoughtful placement of live music.
I had the pleasure of accompanying James and Matthew for their wedding ceremony at Hackney Town Hall. Through detailed conversations in the lead-up to the day, we carefully selected the musical moments and repertoire that would support the flow and tone of the ceremony.
For this occasion, I arranged and prepared customised backing tracks for A Million Dreams (The Greatest Showman), A Day Like This (Elbow), and an excerpt from Concerning Hobbits (The Lord of the Rings). Each piece was adapted with attention to the precise timing required within a civil ceremony format.
I positioned myself discreetly within the space so that the music enhanced the atmosphere while keeping the focus on the couple. Additional music for guest arrival and departure was incorporated seamlessly, allowing the ceremony to unfold naturally.
A particularly meaningful comment after the wedding described the performance as sounding “like a recording, but live in the room”; a balance of polish and presence that I continually strive to achieve.
